Whitney Houston’s ‘I Believe In You And Me’ Peaked On R&B Chart 25 Years Ago Today


Twenty-five years ago today (January 25, 1997) “I Believe In You And Me” from The Preacher’s Wife soundtrack peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Mervyn Warren produced the film version and David Foster produced the single version. Whitney was nominated for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the single at the 40th GRAMMY Awards in 1998. In a review of the soundtrack, The New York Times praised the song stating, “It is among the year’s most virtuosic pop ballads.”
