snl96

Whitney Houston served as the musical guest during this episode of Saturday Night Live to help promote The Preacher’s Wife. She performed “I Believe In You And Me” and “I Go The Rock” during the live broadcast. The film’s director, Penny Marshall, also appeared with Whitney during the show’s opening monologue, interrupting host Rosie O’ODonnell and singing “I Got You Babe” with them both. Later in the episode, the three appeared together in a comedy skit with cast member Molly Shannon (playing the character Mary Katherine Gallagher). Whitney sings “Little Drummer Boy” and “Sleigh Ride” during the skit, as Gallagher tries to outperform her.
