Whitney Houston’s ‘All The Man That I Need’ Was Released In December 1990

December 4, 1990 (33 years ago today) – “All The Man That I Need” was released as the second single from Whitney’s I’m Your Baby Tonight album. Written by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford, the song was originally recorded by Linda Clifford in 1982. Whitney’s version was produced by Narada Michael Walden and features a saxophone solo by Kenny G.

It went on to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and the Adult Contemporary chart, becoming her first single to simultaneously top those three Billboard charts. The song was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance at the 34th GRAMMY Awards and nominated for Best R&B/Soul Single, Female at the 6th Soul Train Music Awards.
