On May 17, 2003 (17 years ago), Whitney’s song “Try It On My Own” (a.k.a. “On My Own”) peaked at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was written by Babyface, Carole Bayer Sager, Jason Edmonds, Aleese Simmons and Nathan Walton and was the third single from her fifth studio album, Just Whitney. Babyface handled the production. The video was shot at the Lyric Theater in Miami, one of the oldest African American owned theaters in that city, opened in 1913.
