
On this week in 1996, the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack reached #1 on the charts in the U.S. Released in November 1995, the soundtrack became a huge hit featuring appearances by some of the biggest names in the industry including Whitney, Toni Braxton, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Aretha, Brandy and others. The soundtrack was unique in that it consisted of African-American female R&B artists only. It remained at the top of the charts for 5 weeks.
