November 1992 (27 years ago), “I Will Always Love You” was released as a single worldwide. Whitney’s arrangement of this Dolly Parton song was recorded for the soundtrack of The Bodyguard, her film debut. The record company initially felt that an a cappella intro would not be successful but were quickly proved wrong as the song went to #1 around the world. It remained #1 in the U.S. for 14 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the best-selling song by a female artist of all time.
