More than a decade since her untimely death, a new duet featuring Whitney Houston is headed to the airwaves, and fans say it sounds like “pure magic.”
Calum Scott announced the “surreal” new project on social media over the weekend, sharing a snippet of his vocals overlaying Houston’s on the ballad version of her beloved 1987 track “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
“This Thursday, a duet I couldn’t have dreamt up, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ with the incredible @whitneyhouston, will finally be yours,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 7.
“Being able to sing with Whitney’s voice, one of the most iconic voices we’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing, is just surreal. I hope that when you listen to this, you feel the joy, love and spirit that Whitney poured into everything that she sang. Hearing her sing this song like this is truly a gift to us all!” he added, revealing that the new project featuring the late legend’s vocals will be out this coming Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fans are already enamored with Scott’s take on the beloved track, with one calling it “pure magic.”

Scott received Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2015, and went on to release several viral covers, including Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” which is still his second most popular song on Spotify despite being released seven years ago.
