April 10, 1993 (29 years ago) – “I Have Nothing,” the third single from The Bodyguard soundtrack, peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Written by David Foster and Linda Thompson, the song became another huge hit after the back-to-back successes of “I Will Always Love You” and “I’m Every Woman.” It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a GRAMMY Award for Best Song Written For Visual Media, and a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B Single, Female. To this day, many aspiring singers use the song as their audition for competitions like American Idol, The Voice, and other shows.
