Thirty-four years ago today (Valentine’s Day – February 14, 1985) marked the debut of Whitney’s first studio album. After a bit of a slow start, it eventually topped the Billboard 200 albums chart for 14 weeks in the U.S. and contained three #1 singles – “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know” and “Greatest Love Of All” – songs that remain favorites with her legions of fans. In 1986 at the 28th GRAMMY Awards, she won Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for “Saving All My Love For You.” The album was certified Diamond in March 1999 and to date has sold over 13 million copies in the U.S. and more than 22 million copies worldwide.
