"Whitney Houston" 25th Anniversary

News

On January 12, 2010, Arista Records/Legacy Recordings will release the 25th Anniversary Edition of Whitney Houston, the astonishing debut album that catapulted a virtually unknown young artist into the upper reaches of pop superstardom back in 1985.

I really appreciate this idea and effort, but something else is needed for the fans and for this record to sell. Maybe there are parts of all four of the music videos that were scrapped or an alternate version. You could have those. Maybe you could have very early interviews of Whitney. You could have other artists comment on how Whitney's debut impacted the world (Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Monica, Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Kevin Costner, Babyface, LA Reid, Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Lena Horne, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Roberta Flack, Patti LaBelle, Oprah Winfrey--just to name a few). The stuff you guys are offering, the world has already seen and heard. You could have pictures from photoshoots from the first album era, never before seen musical performances. The cover of the CD, you could do something different with it. The packaging of the cd, you could do something different with it. The cd booklet and case. I mean, I think Whitney, the impact of this album, and the fans deserve so much more. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD! WE REALLY APPRECATE THE IDEA AND EFFORT, BUT SO MUCH MORE CAN BE DONE!

Correct me if I'm wrong... I thought all this stuff was on youtube??? Not a collector's item unless you been buried for 25 years and just woke up!

you are so right andrew scar. some alternate versions would be great especially since i've heard over the years that whitney first did a version of saving all my love for you that was so soulful that clive wouldn't release it because it didn't sound "pop" enough. she really must have sung the fool out of it, and i sure would love to hear that...
xtc33, i'm sure that this stuff is on youtube (LOL!) but think of all the people born since then that didn't get to witness the genious of young whitney....

i gotta have it, i'm so addicted to Whitney, congrats!!! Rock and Roll hall of fame, here she comes.

hey, is it possible we can get 1 more new song for this cd, pretty please, i love love love Whitney . i'm still hyper excited

I understand and can agree with were everyone is coming from and I can see how you would want something that you haven't seen or heard before, but they are offering five bonus tracks which could/should be songs we never heard or don't have, and a lot of extras. So before we trash this anniversary edition let's see what the final product has to offer. I do agree with a new album cover and a few of the ideas, and who knows, they just may take our ideas into consideration.

i think this idea is really irrelevant..This is the youtube age.i would prefer to have something different, A live album of whitney houston amazing performances through the years with some rare performances ,she has alway brought so much soul and passion to her live performance and what a way to celebrate but to remind us of how awesome she is and can be.what she has meant to us over the years, while promoting her upcoming concerts. This is what will sell not some thing we can see on youtube. We want more than a couple bonus songs we have heard a million times before.WHITNEY LIVE THE VOICE,THE HITS......

I agree. They didnt have issues securing concert rights for WHH 1991 concert or 97 Classic Whitney concerts. There must be more concert shoots that we havent seen yet. We seem to get snippets of them in old documentaries so there must be hours of footage left not only in the US but concerts in other countries. I dont see why they cant put these full clips in remastered dvd format and have an option like movie dvd's where you can have artist's commentary/audio speaking above the concert track giving unique info or concert anecdotes with other artists, dancers, or vocalists that participated. THAT WILL SELL!!!

Hell, if U2 can do a live Youtube concert coupla weeks back and include the footage in upcoming live dvd, why cant whitney??? Doesnt make sense.

something must be totally wrong with Whitney's marketing team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am almost 100% sure that this news will only be on Facebook or this site, because their marketing of ILTY ia certainly very poor, because people seem to like this new album very much in south africa, but the album is not marketed properly and sales suffer.... look like it will only be the die-hard fans who will buy this special anniversary edition if it is not marketed properly. With MLIYL, ther were instant remixes playing on the air constantly, but now you only hear MDB & ILTY on the airwaves.....

Hi everyone,
Keep up with the great ideas, maybe her marketing team will take notes and listen to her fans. I would love to see a collection of her rear gems. Songs she recorded but did not release.
