Congratulations Whitney. I bought 3 copies. This should have gone Platinum the week it came out. This is actually one of her best CD"s. I have been a Whitney fan since 1985, and I have everything she has ever done, but I listen to this CD more than any of the others. Everybody knows she is the best singer in the world, but there is a new depth and character to her voice, and I love it! I think this CD is going to explode once people stop focusing on her personal life and get back to the fact that she is the greatest singer in the world.
Congrats Whitney!!! I Look To You is one of my "All-Time" favorite albums, it'll be multi-platinum in the coming months for sure. Happy Holidays to you and every Nippy-fan.
I will not rest until this album is at least X3 platinum. This is solid material. Not only can it revive the spirit of those who are trying to overcome, but it actually does make you feel good. RIAA meansures sales to vendors/wholesalers. It's not soundscan which is what really counts. Soundscan so far, has only 800K in the US. Not platinum yet...
I have noticed that all her albums follow this trend of selling fast in opening days, slowing down steadily, and before you know it, it's platinum, multi-platinum and after one year they suddenly rise up the charts again and dominate worldwide. Mark my word............. mega platinum sales on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to Whitney & Clive on 'I Look To You' going platinum before the end of the year. Like many Whitney fans I wasn't happy that the album didn't get any Grammy nominations, because it definitely deserved that recognition. Truthfully, Whitney should have more Grammy Awards than she already has, but the Grammy Awards have ALWAYS been somewhat shady with Whitney throughout the years. Starting back to saying she was ineligible for the Best New Artist Award. But, in the end, Whitney is still the most awarded female entertainer in history, and no Grammy snub can ever take that away from her.
With or without Grammy nominations, Whitney has defied all expectations with 'I Look To You.' Many wrote her off long before the album was released, but the album debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries, produced a No. 1 dance hit with Million Dollar Bill, more classic Whitney songs and has gone platinum. And all of this without any real support from radio. Whitney achieved this platinum success without having to churn out the same crappy music that makes listening to the radio impossible these days. She picked herself back up, dusted herself off and found new success by continuing to evolve as an artist on her own terms. Hopefully, Whitney will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which will truly cap off not only her comeback, but her legacy.
