Mid-1980s photo of Whitney with songwriter Michael Masser, who figured very prominently in her career as he wrote so many of her early hits including “Saving All My Love for You,” “All At Once,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “You’re Still My Man,” “After We Make Love,” “Hold Me” (with Teddy Pendergrass) and of course her favorite song “The Greatest Love of All.”

Whitney had two favorite makeup artists – Kevyn Aucoin in the beginning and later Roxanna Floyd, both of whom are no longer with us. Early in her career, Whitney worked with Kevyn and she absolutely loved him. Now there will be a documentary about him, which will include Whitney.

Thirty years ago today, Billboard issue dated June 27, 1987 – Whitney debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” went to No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Interesting article with Chris Cox (of Thunderpuss fame) on the famous remix of “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” which Whitney famously performed at Gay Pride in NYC in June of 1999 and which became a huge hit.
