Whitney Houston ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight’ #1 25 Years Ago

Twenty-five years ago today, the single “I’m Your Baby Tonight” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“I’m Your Baby Tonight” was the lead single and title track from Whitney Houston’s third studio album. The song was written and produced by L.A. Reid and Babyface. While the original version was released in the United States, the Yvonne Turner mix (also known as the “European Version” or the “International Version”) was released in other countries. The single featured a B-side, “Feels So Good.”

Whitney was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for this track at the 33rd Grammy Awards in 1991. The song became a huge hit for her, reaching the Top 10 worldwide. It was her eighth #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, and her fifth biggest hit in the U.S.

A live performance of “I’m Your Baby Tonight” was included in the 2014 CD/DVD release, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances.
